Alpenzoo is a zoo which is as one of the highest elevation zoos in Europe. In 5-hectare land area with approximately 200 animals from 150 species includes 20 mammals (of the 80 mammal species in the Alps), 60 birds species, 11 reptile species and 6 amphibian species, with almost all the fish species present in the Alps. The zoo was founded in 22 September 1962 by Hans Psenner, the Austrian zoologist. The thing to do at Austria is you should visit Alpenzoo that located at the foot of the Nordkette mountain range fringing Innsburck and get new knowledge about the alpine animal world. This is one of Europe's highest located zoos which offer a wonderful view on the mountains as well as the city. The famous animals here are the big Alpine animals such as bears, wolves, moose, bison, and more. In the little farm you can see various Alpine livestock included fowls, sheep, cattle, pigs and goats. The zoo has six big terrariums as the home of reptile species and an aqua-terrarium to cater for the amphibians. They also have the biggest fresh water aquarium in the world with 17 tanks containing around 80 and 14,000 liters each. There you can find around 50 species of Alpine fishes that display there, which some of them is quite rare and endangered species.
