The Arignagar Anna Zoological Park, also called Vandalur Zoo, was initially known as the Madras Zoo. It was the first zoo to be established in India. The zoo also runs a school inside the premises to educate and influence the public to preserve our precious flora and fauna. The zoo also facilitates various recreation and public services to the visitors to enrich their excursion. The Arignagar Anna Zoo is the largest zoo in south-east Asia. The ticket prices vary for various age groups. One can get all the information regarding the availability of tickets on this website. The gates of the zoo open from morning 9:00 am to evening 5:00 pm every week except on Tuesdays so that you can avail the tickets at any time in between.
How To Get Around?
The main entry gate of the zoo reclines on the eastern side of the Chennai-Trichy Highway. You can get around the Arignagar Anna Zoological Park easily from the Vandalur railway station, situated at the north-western side, about 1 km far from the main portal of the zoo.

How To Get There?
You can reach the zoo by air, rail or road according to your preference. The Meenambakkam airport is located at a distance of 15 km from the Arignagar Anna Zoological Park. It facilities scheduled flights on a daily basis, linking Chennai with the other main cities of the country. The park is sited on the eastern side of the GST road, close to Vandalur, which is 33 km far from the Chennai Central Railway Station. It facilitates uninterrupted service from various regions of the city to Vandalur.
Rupees 25 per camera, mobile camera and i-pad fee is charged to carry the camera inside the premises of the zoo.
