4.5 (100%) 621 votes

The Basilica of Saint-Sernin or also called Basilica de Sant Sarninin Occitan is a church which is the former Abbey of Saint-Sernin, but now only consists of the church. It got its name from Saint Sernin, the first bishop of Toulouse in the 3rd century who was murdered. The church has the romanesque architecture style which makes it still looks so majestic up until now. There is a high nave with barrel vault which leads you to the choir and the gold-plated wooden and marble canopy where you can see the whole church. Although it was built and vaulted in brick, it is still one of the most elegant churches in France.
