The Basilica of Sant’Antonino is one of the most visited historical and a pilgrimage site in Italy. The church was constructed in the medieval Roman Catholic era. It is named after Sant’Antonino who was the patron saint of the city. The place garners plenty of visitors who come down to this pilgrimage site from across the world to witness the extensive gothic architecture and marvelous designs of the church. It is designed by Pietro Vago back in 1350. The church was reconstructed and when through a series of transformation through the centuries. From the wooden ceilings to the statue of Gregory X, many antiquities of inside have been replaced. The interior of the church renders the most alluring sight. The walls are painted in fresco designs by famous artist Camillo Gavasetti. They are hung on the presbytery. Along with paintings, there are also canvases by another prominent artist of the era Robert de Longe who was known for his inspiring paintings and art. A lot of work has been transferred to the Civic Gallery. However, the place still houses exotic paintings like the Coronation of the Virgin, one of the most viewed paintings by Gian Battista Trotti installed inside. The architecture of the monument is a combination of Byzantine and Romanesque style along with a touch of Gothic styles.
