Belfry of Bruges is one of the city's popular icon in Bruges. It was built in medieval era of the middle ages in the heart of Bruges. Previosuly, this building was used as the house of treasury and municipal archieve. It has 366 steps of stairs and can be accessed by public with registration. The belfry was added to the market square around 1240, when Bruges was an important centre of the Flemish cloth industry. Around 1240, this 83 meters bell tower was added to Markt or Market Square when Bruges was the main place of the Flemish. It has been added as the UNESCO World Heritage since 1999.
