The Aquarium

The Aquarium in the Berlin Zoological Garden is one of the country's largest aquarium. It was built in the year 1913 and since its opening, the aquarium is ranked among the public aquariums housing the greatest biodiversity in the world. There are almost 9,000 animals belonging to 800 several species which are presented on three separate three storeys including the tropical and native fishes, a broad variety of insects, jellyfish, etc. With 250 tanks for fishes, there are a number of reptiles and amphibians including tuataras in the aquarium. With a whole capacity of 25,000 litres, twelve basins including different sections house the world of corals. The biggest basin amongst them is the 11-cubic meter named the Great Coral Basin with its lagoon production.

The Panda Garden in the Berlin Zoological Garden is a great exhibit to start your journey in the zoo. Great Pandas inhibit the entire area conducting playful activities in the bamboo trees which are quite likeable to them. You will find the lazy pandas eating out of the bamboos and laying down most of the times. But if you are lucky enough, you may also find them playing amongst themselves and enjoying their day in the sun. Another restaurant, Waldschänke is a terrace restaurant which serves delicious home-cooked food in a wooden style house. The best dish here is the Grandama's Delicious Cake which is usually enjoyed by all. Last but not the least, the Snack and Bistro in the Aquarium offers a great deal of snack bars, coffee variants, cakes, ice-creams, and waffles for you to have your deserving dose of desserts.
