St. Sava temple is the biggest church of the city with a capacity of more than 10,000 believers. It is not only well known for its humongous spaciousness but also because of its exorbitant interiors that enraptures visitors from all over the place. Underneath the church floor, there are cellars and crypt of Saint Sava along with the funeral church of Holy Prince Lazar. The domes of the church are ornamented with almost 18 gilded crosses of three distinctive sizes along with 50 house bells. It is one of the most prominent and magnificent churches of the world. The church is most popular for its lavishing architecture. The architectural design of the temple is that of Serbian-Byzantine. There are numerous mosaics within the church covering the walls of the place along with the most significant mosaic of Christ Pantocrator kept on the roof of the largest dome to lure the visitors.

Entry to the church is free of cost. Visiting hours of the church are from morning 9:00 am till evening 6:00 pm. You only require at most 30 minutes to get around the church.

The church is situated in the Municipality of Vracar, which is just half an hour walk away from the centerof the city. You can also reach your destination by any convenient public transport like trams, buses or taxi. You can get around the church on your own to visit all the prominent attractions of the place. You can also go for local guided tours for a more profound expedition of the place.

How To Get There?

You can reach the church by taxi, bus, tram or car. Tram lines 9, 10 and 14 providing transporting facilities to the visitors on Bulevar Oslobodjenja to get to the church. Buses lines 30, 31, 33, 39, 42, 47, 48, 58 and 58 on the same stop as trams (Bulevar Oslobodjenja) drops the visitors at Karadordev Park which is located at a 2min foot distance from the church. Suitable parking facilities are not provided within the church, so it is advisable to travel by public transits to visit the place without any fuss.

After the sunset, in the evening, the church appears to look mesmerizingly bright and lit up. Its a panorama worth experiencing.
