This cathedral is situated near to the Lake Como, and is one of the most significant constructions in the region. It is actually elaborated as the final Gothic cathedral in Italy. The construction was commenced in the year 1396 whereas after the 10 years of forming Milan Cathedral. The building construction did not complete until 1770. The striking west front was formed between the year 1457 and 1498 and functions with a rose window and a portal among two statues. The cathedral is with a length of 87 meters and a width of 36 to 56 meters. It is having a height of 75 meters. It is persisting with a floor plan of Latin cross. The inside part of the cathedral is having textiles and even there are numerous paintings of the16th century. This is the major place of worship in the city. This is identified as one of the most significant religious places in Northern Italy. During the construction of the building, temporary bells were fixed on the tower and as a result, it became the final bell tower of the cathedral. The two statues in the cathedral have undergone destruction associated with weather and smog. The portal is surrounded by two tondos and representing two sculptures. Even above there are five sculptures also. Near the rose window consisting of a statue of god covered with other statues.
