Located in Mallorca Island, The Caves of Drach are four great caves. These four caves are in the Manacor, near the Porto Cristo area. The caves extend to a depth of 25 m and reach approximately 4 km in length. The four caves are called Black Cave, White Cave, Cave of Luis Salvador, and Cave of the French, are connected to each other. The caves were being forces by the water which pass through the entrance of Mediterranea Sea. Some researchers think that the process of forming the caves might be date back to the Miosen Epoch. There is an underground lake beneath the caves and it is called Martel Lake. It has approximately 115 meters in length and 30 meters in width, and various depth, between 4 and 12 meters. The name of the lake was taken from the French Scientist, Édouard-Alfred Martel, that is known as the founding father of speleology (the study of cave).

1. The Underground Lake
The underground Lake of Cuaves del Drach or well-known as Martal lake is the popular attraction of Cuevas del Drach. Many tourist come this lake as it was considered as the largest underground lake in the world. In Martel Lake, you can take the opportunity to float across the lake by using a little wooden rowboat which is certainly a highlight of the hour-long trip. The name of this lake is given as an honor for the French scientist who discovers the lake, Édouard-Alfred Martel. The light effect that enters the lake will add some values of it. 2. The Caves
The colors and the formations of the caves become the main point for visitors who come to visit Cuevas del Drach. Visitors can imagine creatively that they see formation in the shape of flag, cactus and snowcapped mountain. Baths of Diana is also there with the fantastic stalactite that grows 1 cm every 100 years. Between 1922 and 1935, the caves were conditioned to be visited by opened the new entrance, built the paths, stairs and the electricity installation. It takes one hour to travel this caves include the classical music concerts and boat trip. This caves have been mentioned in the famous novel by Jules Verne in 1896 which is called 'Clovis dartentir'. This novel tells about two brothers who are sailing the North Africa and stop in Mallorca, in the Cuevas del Drach.
3. Classical Concert
Your visit will incomplete if you do not see the Classical Concert in the end of the caves tour. The Classical Concert is held in the Martel Lake and it has been offered since 1935. This 10 minutes concert consists of live music which is played by a quartet of musicians. Cello, harpsichord and two violins are the instruments that are used in this Classcial Concert. The music players will stand on the boat and begin to play the instrument. .
How to Get Tickets?
Tickets can be purchased online or at the tickets office which is located 200 meters from the entrance of Cuevas del Drach. Tickets at the tickets office can be purchased only at 9 am. Your tickets will show you the time to visit the caves and you should arrive there at least 10 minutes before. Tickets that are purchasing at the tickets office will get added payment. since the places in the cave are limited, you can enter the cave if you have valid tickets. Live concerts and boat trip are included in tickets, you do not have to pay double for that.
How To Get Around?
Getting around Cuevas del Drach is easy. You can take a stroll to see the sorrounding area since there is a bar, souvenirs shop and picnic areas. Boat trip is also interesting to be tried when you are visiting Cuevas del Drach. It can take you pass the lake and see the sorrounding area from water.
What Should I Wear?
You can wear clothes depend on the weather in Mallorca since there is no dress code to enter the Cuevas del Drach. However, the temperature inside the cave is 21°C, the best thing to do is wear warm clothes. Also, do not forget to wear comfortable footwear since you are going to walk when you are inside the caves.
Best Time to Visit
You can visit Cuevas del Drach anytime you want. In high season, the visits at 10, 16 and 17 h are usually less crowded, especially at weekends.

How To Get There?
You can use car to visit this place by put the location on google maps for your convenience. Bus, taxi and sea excursion are also available to visit Cuevas del Drach. If you are in Palma, you can take bus number 412 to reach the Cuevas del Drach.
Go early or reserve a ticket before, and be aware that they have entry hours so the entrance is not continiously.
