The site is divided into five different regions each focusing on a distinct habitat. Gardens of the west contain 17 gardens showcasing flora that sustains in the arid climate of Colorado. Spread on an area of 3 acres the region depicts six different ecosystems found in Colorado: The alpine, Subalpine forest, Montane Forest, Plains and grassland, Riparian and Montane Shrubland. Children can experience the distinct vegetation and environment of each ecosystem that undergo seasonal changes in accordance with nature. There is an admission fee to Denver Botanic Gardens. Only the members of the garden and children below the age of two are allowed free admission.
