The Challenge is a replica of a Great Lakes Schooner that sailed 1852-1889. It was the semi-truck of the Great Lakes. In 2005, the replica was built by Rob Stevens. You can learn more about the physics, science, and technology of sailing, or experience the living and working conditions aboard a 19th Century sailing vessel. Stay above deck or travel below and hear the sailors sing of their journeys.

How to Get Tickets?

Discovery World sells its tickets at admissions. Their official website doesn't sell e-tickets. You have to go to Discovery World and purchase the tickets before entering the building. The ticket price is $19 for adults, $16 for child and senior, and $14 for college student and military. The ticket prices are subject to change. Please note that you have to show your valid ID to get the college student and military tickets. If you plan to come with a group of 10 or more, advanced reservations are required at least 3 weeks before visit.

How To Get Around?

Discovery World is accessible by wheelchair and stroller, and is easy to walk in. There are signs everywhere so you won't get lost. To enjoy the things to do at Discovery World, you have to park your vehicle and walk to the museum building. Once you enter the building, you can choose which way to go or what you want to see first by walking through the area.

What Should I Wear?

Wear something casual and comfortable when you visit Discovery World. This museum doesn't have a dress code and you can wear anything appropriate when visiting. A simple t-shirt or shirt, jeans, and shoes are what most people wear at Discovery World. Make sure everything you wear is comfortable since you are going to do a lot of activities in this building.

You might want to visit Discovery World early in the morning when it opens to avoid the crowd. There are more things to do at Discovery World in the morning when you visit. You can see the Caribbean Tank Feeding, Lake Michigan Tank Divers & Sturgeon Feeding, and many more if you come in the morning. The museum opens at 9am - 4pm on the weekdays and 10am-5pm on the weekends.

No, everything is easy to find and you won't get lost. There are signs everywhere and you can learn about most of the things by yourself.

How To Get There?

Discovery World is located off of Lincoln Memorial Drive on Milwaukee's Lakefront between the Milwaukee Art Museum and Summerfest Grounds. If you're from downtown Milwaukee, you can try to find Milwaukee Intermodal Station, the city hub for Amtrak, Greyhound and other long-distance bus services. Milwaukee County Transit System is also a good option. Several buses also stop a block or two from Discovery World.
