The room underwent redecoration in 2009 and the lobby has since been restored to its original aesthetic. How to Get Tickets?

Tickets for the observatories are available in a ticketing booth in the building. You may avail of the New York Pass and other similar packages, but you will still have to wait in line to receive the voucher. Investing in an express ticket will certainly cut down your waiting time. Separate fees will apply if you wish to dine in any of the restaurants in the building.

How To Get Around?

You will be doing some walking inside. Elevators will take you to the other floors of the building if you wish. The stairs, meanwhile, are closed at all times with the exception of the yearly Empire State Building Run-Up.

Best Time to Visit

While the off-peak time greatly varies, the building is usually less crowded in the morning at around 8 o'clock or around 3 o'clock in the afternoon. If you want an even more special visit, they sell the Sunrise Experience at $100 but it is limited to 100 people every morning. This would be the way to go if you wish to avoid the crowds. Good weather generally permits great views regardless of whether you choose to go in the daytime or at night.

The exhibits will provide you the information you need to know about the building. However, an audio and visual tour is available for an additional $5 charge.

How To Get There?

The Empire State Building is easily recognizable and lies a walkable distance away from other popular spots in the area.
If you take the subway, take the 1, 2, or 3 to 34th Street/Penn Station and walk two blocks eastward.
If you take the B, D, F, M, N, Q, or R, get off at Herald Square/34th Street and walk eastward from the exit.
