Situated in the south of Windsor Castle in the Windsor Castle Home Park, Frogmore House had been a Royal Residence since 1792. This house is about a half mile from the Windsor Castle. At 1680 to 1684, the original house of Frogmore was built. Hugh Mei, the Charles II's architect built this house for Prince Charles's nephew.

Frogmore house is located in the Home Park of Windsor Castle. This 18th century house is famous for its lake and the gardens which have beautiful landscape. This historic was loved by Queen Victoria and offers many attraction to the visitors. This house is full of history and heritage that contain many families generation's interest which had lived in this house. The interior of this house was strongly influenced by the royal generations. During summer, the house offers a house tour for visitor to explore the house and its beautiful garden.

The main focus of Frogmore is the garden. This is the highlight of every visit. Since Queen Charlotte had an interest in botany, she planted various plants in this garden which are rare and unusual. Queen Charlotte also made a Botanical Library and ensured that flower became the famous and the main plant in this garden. More than 4,000 trees and hedge are presented by the Queen to create a wonderful landscape of the garden. A flower painter, Mary Moser, was commissioned to help decorating the room in Frogmore House with flower bucket. Queen Mary reestablished the garden in the last century and improved for Her Majesty the Queen's Silver Jubilee.

The artworks of Royal Family generations are kept in the Queen Victoria's closet. Visitors can see the artwork which ran by three generation of Royal Family. There are the artworks of Queen Victoria and Princess Louise.

How to Get Tickets?

Tickets can be purchased online. Frogmore House offers three kinds of tickets: Adult tickets, Children tickets and Concession tickets. Frogmore House hosts group visiting including private guided evening tour, general visit and Frogmore House and the Savill Garden. Tickets for group visiting are included in group tickets. Also, Frogmore House opens three dates in a year which is known as Charity Open Days. These three days are for individual visit. Tickets are booked in this charity will be proceed as a donation. Pre booked tickets should be paid by credit card 30 days before visiting.

How To Get Around?

You can take a fun-walk to get around Frogmore House. Walking is the only to do because all the attractions are close together. It is also near to the Windsor Castle.

What Should I Wear?

You can wear clothes depend on the weather condition when you are visiting Frogmore House. In summer you can wear: denim, t-shirt, trousers, cool clothes with comfortable footwear. Sunglasses and sunscreen are important things to bring in summer. While in winter: long coat, sweater, jacket with boots can be the good option. Do not forget to bring gloves, hat and scarf to make your look fashionable in winter.

Best Time to Visit

Since Frogmore House is in the Home Park of Windsor Castle, the best time to visit is from March – October. During those months, the doors open to the public at 9.30am every day, including Sunday, and close at 5.30pm. From November to February opening time is 9.45am, closing 4.15pm. Last entrance is 90 minutes before closing time.

How To Get There?

Public transport can help you to get there. You can use bus from Heathrow Terminal 5 with routes 77. This route will take you to the Windsor Castle. While if you are using coach, the Green Line will take you to Windsor Castle from Victoria Coach Station. You can also use train from London Waterloo Station or London Paddington Station. The train will take you to the Windsor Riverside Station, the nearest station to reach Frogmore House. Car is also available there since it is only 20 miles from London to Windsor.

Additional Info

There are some restricted items that should not be brought inside the castle such as large items of baggage, backpacks, pen knives and scissors. Those items will have to be checked in and retrieved at the end of the visit.
