Hatanpaa arboretum is truly of Tampere's absolute gems. Located in the area of the Hatanpaa mansion, this naturally beautiful and vast park area on the shore of the lake Pyhäjärvi is the favourite place for many joggers, relaxers, locals and visitors. Behind the mansion there's also an exquisite rose garden, that wil be in full bloom later in the summer, around July and August. The summer café Arboretum is a nice place for a small snack or a drink.

2. Härmälä camping area
There are many things to do at Hatanpaa arboretum, one of them is camping. By Lake Pyhäjärvi, just four kilometres from the centre, is the Härmälä camping area where you can rent a cottage, park a trailer or put up a tent. The area also has lakeside saunas, a beach and a mini golf course.
3. Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre
Built on the runway of the former airport just a little south of Härmälä is the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre. Its five exhibition halls host a wide variety of international and national fairs, dog shows, sporting events and concerts. The centre is only six kilometres from town and it is within easy reach by public transport and by car.
4. Hatanpaa arboretum cafe

Best Time to Visit
It is open from May to September from Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 18:00. During the summer heat the park offers plenty of shade. The roses offer their splendour throughout the summer, but the best months are from July to September, while the trees planted in the arboretum look great all year round. Definitely worth a visit for garden lovers. It's open by appointment outside the opening hours.

How To Get There?
Due to a limited parking space, it is best to get to Hatanpaa arboretum by public transport or on a bike.
The construction of the arboretum started in 1971. The whole arboretum, except Pajaniemi, was constructed on filled land. The planting started in 1973. The Latin and Finnish name of each plant is written on the label attached to the plant. In addition, there are information boards in the park displaying the names and locations of plants.
