Re-Live The History in Humayun's Tomb
This magnificent structure was the first garden tomb in the sub-continent of India. It is a heritage monument listed by UNESCO. It was the first structure which was made with a large scale of red stone. The tomb stands on a massive platform at the estimated height of seven meters. The building comprises of red stone whereas the tomb is made of yellow and black marbles. The tomb is crowned with a dome made up of white marble in a Persian architectural style. The main chamber of the Humayun's Tomb is octagonal which is surrounded with the graves of other members of the royal family.
Char Bagh refers to four gardens. It is the Persian and Islamic style of the garden having the quadrilateral layout. The concept is mentioned in the Quran. The quadrilateral design reflects the Garden of Paradise, Jannat. This style of garden can be seen in all the monuments of the Mughals.
There are many other monuments in the Humayun's tomb complex to visit. More than one hundred and fifty graves of the members of the royal Mughal family are buried in this tomb. The Mosque and Afsarwala Tomb, Arab Sarai, Nila Gumbad, The Mosque and the Tomb of Isa Khan, Bu Halima's Tomb, Barber's Tomb and Garden Chillah Nizamuddin Aulia are some of the monuments to visit.

Best Time to Visit
Humayun's Tomb is open from 6.00 am to 6.00 pm everyday, all year round. It's better to visit the place at early mornings since it's not too hot yet. Months from October to March are the best to visit Humayun's Tomb since the weather is pleasant. Do avoid summer months, which is from April to July, since New Delhi is very hot during that period.

How To Get There?
Transport is easily available in Delhi. You can reach Humayun's Tomb by taking Metro of violet line route for Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Station or you can take the yellow line route of Metro for Jor Bagh Station. Further, take DTC buses, rental cab, auto rickshaw, or by private cab for Lodi Road to reach your destination.
Photography inside the tomb is strictly prohibited. You can click the snaps in the garden area or outside the Humayun's Tomb. You can carry your water bottle and snacks with you to the tomb as there is no vending zone inside the premises. Bags can be kept on baggage counter for security point of view. Be aware of pickpockets and take care of your valuables and belongings. Photo-conscious! Try to arrive early so that you could have good snaps as the rays of the sun are not bright in the morning and the crowd will also be less.
