Inaugurated in the year 1948, the museum was founded by Francisco Matarazzo Sobrinho on the lines of Museum of Modern art, New York. It has an impressive collection of artworks by some of the most renowned artists like Pablo Picasso, Mario Zanini, Aldo Bonadei, José António da Silva, etc.

Museu Afro Brasil or Afro Brazilian museum is a contemporary museum dedicated to the black people. It was originally named as Ibirapuera Auditorium, it was in the year 2014 that the name was changed to Ibirapuera Auditorium- Oscar Niemeyer, to pay tribute to the mastermind behind the park. It was built to promote the art of music and encourage new talents. From numerous music shows of national as well as international level to various scholar meets, the auditorium is known to host various events.

Plan a trip to Ibirapuera Park during the months of March to May or October to November. Winters from June to September have pleasant weather but witness great crowd. The park opens to the visitors from 5 in the morning to midnight from Monday to Friday, while on Saturday, it opens from 5 am and closes by the midnight of Sunday.

The park also hosts Sao Paulo fashion week every year in January and July, it is one of the prime events in Sao Paulo. Besides it, the Biennial Architecture and the Biennial of arts and numerous other trade shows are also held at the park. Please note that there are ten entrances to the gates for the ease of the visitors.
