Reserving the first and second floor of the museum, the art section boasts an exquisite collection of antique textiles, beautiful art manifests, and miniature paintings from Asian countries like Thailand, Japan, China, Nepal, Tibet, Sri Lanka, Java, Myanmar, and Kampuchea. The unique craft-works fascinate millions of its visitors which includes jamdani and Muslin from Dhaka, Persian carpets, Kanthas of Bengal, Chamba rumal, wood carvings, and metal images. Divided into two major groups, 'Bengal School of Art' and 'Indian Miniatures,' the painting gallery of the museum features artefacts in a chronological order. Bengal School of Art exhibits masterpieces and artworks of the nineteenth and twentieth century belonging to the Neo Bengal School of Paintings. Indian Miniatures highlights substantial paintings of Persian, Deccan, Mughals, Provincial Mughals, Rajasthani, Deccan, and Pahari.
