Islamabad Zoo or before was known as Marghazar Zoo was first opened in 1978. With its are of 33 ha, this zoo is the home for around six-hundred animals from many species. The zoo is located in Margalla Hill, Islamabad. It used to be the part of Japanese Park but The Capital Development Authority decided to extend the zoo and upgrade it into recreational area and wildlife sanctuary.
