Jagdish temple is a huge and magnificent temple in Royal Palace in Udaipur. This temple is a major tourist attraction in Udaipur because of its magnificence. This temple has been under continuous worship since the year 1651. This temple was also called as Jagannath Rai once upon a time. Maharana Jagat Singh built this temple in 1651. It is considered one of the best examples of Hindu Iconography. This temple has statutes of multiple deities of which the one of Lord Jagannath is considered as the largest. It is built as per the Indo-Aryan architecture.

The spire is the structure on the top of the main temple. This spire rises as high as 79 feet. This spire is said to dominate the sky of this beautiful city. This spire is of typical Hindu architecture and is considered a beautiful example. The spire's magnificence is in the carvings of dancers, elephants, musicians, and others on it. The height of the spire along with the architecture and carvings on it make it a sight to behold.

At the entrance is also a huge slab of stone. This slab has inscriptions engraved upon it which refer to the legacy of the king who built this back in 1651. The king Maharana Jagat Singh has spent a fortune of wealth back then on the construction of this exemplary temple. At the entrance is also the protector of Lord Vishnu, Garuda. Garuda is a half man, half eagle and is considered as the protector and companion of Lord Vishnu to whom this temple is dedicated. This statue of Garuda stands to protect Lord Vishnu.

The main shrine houses Lord Vishnu, one of the most important gods in the mythology and culture of Hindus. The idol of Lord Vishnu is carved out of one large black stone. The idol is a four-armed God at the center of the shrine. People throng this temple to get a single glimpse of this idol, and this peek is considered as a gateway to all the calm and serene things.
