Formerly known as Louisville Museum of Natural History and Science and Louisville Science Center, the Kentucky Science Center is the largest interactive science Museum in Kentucky. Founded in 1871, this museum attracts innumerable tourists each year. Spread across 14000 square meters, this museum has something to learn and have fun for all age groups. The science also has a theatre on premises where over 45 different films have been aired throughout the existence of the theatre. The museum was moved to the current building in 1977 from its previous location. This current location is located on the famous museum row in Kentucky. The front faÁade of the building is also considered to be a marvel of architecture for being preserved and has won multiple awards for it.

Science in Play

Located on the first floor of the museum, this section has different activity zones that keep challenging kids and adults alike. This section encourages you to experiment and imagine to complete the activities. The activities present in this section include SIP Main Gallery, science dept, Colour and Light, etc. These activities challenge you to investigate, assess risks, use objects as tools, shop for shapes, textures and colors, explore, build, climb, predict and test and keeps you intrigued for a long time.

The Makerplace

The Makerplace is located on the second floor of the Science Centre. This section is aimed to instill in you a lifelong passion for creating. This exhibit encourages you to ask questions, discover answers and even learn from failure. This zone is a beautiful blend of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math all centered around creativity and endless possibilities. This zone has its timings due to the presence of workshops and classes and checking out the schedule first hand is recommended.

The World We Create

The World We Create

The world we create is located on the second floor of the science center. This zone is full of interactive exhibits which engage in investigative talents and engineering practices. This zone includes exhibits like the rocket table, wind tubes, the crane, whisper dishes, etc. which bring out the science in everyone. The Ohio river projects how the Lincoln and Lewis & Clark Bridges blend Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math, to create beautiful and powerful structures.

Discovery Gallery

Discovery Gallery

The Discovery Gallery has a beautifully curated collection of specimens, from gems and fossils. All these specimens teach you about anthropology, archaeology, and paleontology. The exhibit includes polar bears, mummies, and the Gemini Trainer.



The theatre has aired multiple shows of over 45 movies and documentaries over the past few years since its inauguration. Over three million people have watched these and left with more knowledge than they entered with.

How to Get Tickets?

Tickets are available at the entrance of the Science Centre as well as on the official website of the museum. The ticketing counters at the entrance tend to have queues, so it is recommended to book the tickets online to save time.

How To Get Around?

Getting around is fairly easy in the city. You can reach the museum using your car or by public transport like a taxi. Once inside the museum, there is a direction as to each exhibit and reaching there is easy.
