Koelner Zoo also known as Aktiengesellschaft Cologne Zoological Garden houses almost 7000 animals which belongs to various 700 species and is spread over an area of 20 hectares. The zoo has an attached aquarium Koelner and also an exhibit of invertebrates. Most of its animals are the ones which are rare and are on the verge of extinction. A lot of conservation effort programs and breeding programs are conducted for the purpose of education and awareness amongst the people visiting and the students. Some of its major exhibits include the rainforest hall, Asian elephant park, dolphinarium, great ape section, Meerkat peacock and some of its major animals are lar gibbon, howler monkey and many things to do at the Zoo.

Jungle House runs a successful breeding programme with the zoo's primates, which include lowland gorillas, orang-utans and bonobos, as well as leaf-eating douc langurs. You also can see the insectarium, the place to meet some of the world's weirdest creatures, from delicate butterflies to poisonous spiders. In more than 30 terrariums, insects such as the stick insects and the 'walking leaves' show off their expert canouflage, and the majestic praying mantis perform their magnificent displays.
