Leonardo’s Vineyard can give you the opportunity to get a close idea about the legend’s life and work. In the city of Milan, Leonardo Da Vinci has spent many years of his career. And the authority successfully retained the almost same atmosphere and ambiance of the vineyard till date. This 800 square meters extended and the rectangular shaped vine is a part of the garden Casa Degli Atellani. The Duke of Milan, one of the patrons of Leonardo and his artworks, had gifted this vineyard to the artist in the year 1498 to give him a ‘feel at home’ experience. As per Leonardo’s will, after his demise, this vineyard was equally divided into his loyal servant and his favorite student. After reopening the vineyard, a rigorous restoration project successfully preserved the remains and specimens of the great Renaissance era. For a long period of five hundred years, this vineyard had gone through many damaging incidents like bombarding, fire, building construction, etc. The vine was severely damaged during the Second World War Architect Portaluppi prohibited the annihilation of the vineyard in the year 1920 during his restoration initiative. Recreated in May 2015 at its original location, this vineyard is an unusual and fascinating place in the heart of Milan. After a lot of effort, the enticing aroma of Malvasia di Candia Aromatica grapes are prevailing again in this vine, and the adjacent house is open to welcome the guests wholeheartedly. Do not miss the scope to enter the realm of Da Vinci and get closer to his time.
Leonardo’s Vineyard- The witness of The Last Supper
La Vigna Di Leonardo or Leonardo’s Vineyard was full of exclusive aromatic grapes known as Malvasia di Candia Aromatica. The present owners took a unique initiative to regrow those grapes again in this yard. After DNA testing, they have successfully regrown the grapes in a scientific method. Take a tour to this restored greenery and revisit Leonardo’s leisure afternoons through this historic vineyard.
