4.5 (100%) 656 votes

Marina Grande means great marina. It is one of the most beautiful port which has a history that dates back to almost 2000 years. For ages, this port has served as the connection for Sorrento fishers to reach the sea for fishing. Even today the local fishermen of Sorrento have kept alive this tradition. In this small port of Marina Grande which rests under the limestone cliffs on which the city of Sorrento is perched, visitors come here for swimming, while fishers enjoy fishing. For centuries this portion of Italy remained secluded from the hustle bustle of the city. And the visitors get mesmerized by the beauty of its calm and serene sheltered bay.
