Memphis Zoo is the home of more than 3,500 animals that represents more than 500 different species. The zoo that was built on April 1906, has been a major tenant of Overton Park. In 1988, the City of Memphis renovated the land whose master plan was defined by the Overton Park. The total area itself is 76 acres (31 ha), while only approximately 55 acres (22 ha) are developed.
