The Ninth Fort is one of the defences fortress in Kaunas and is considered one of the monuments that is being protected by the state. It is also called the Devintas Fortas in Lithuanian. It was built in the late 19th century and was once used for prison during the occupation of Kaunas by Soviet Union and used for execution for Jews during the occupation of Kaunas by the Nazi. From April until October, the Ninth Fort opens at 10am and closes at 6pm everyday, except Monday. During Novmber until March, the Ninth Fort opens at 10am and closes at 4pm everyday except Monday and Tuesday.
