The Ninth Fort is one of the defences fortress in Kaunas and is considered one of the monuments that is being protected by the state. It is also called the Devintas Fortas in Lithuanian. It was built in the late 19th century and was once used for prison during the occupation of Kaunas by Soviet Union and used for execution for Jews during the occupation of Kaunas by the Nazi. The Ninth Fort is one of the top destinations in Kaunas now making it full by locals and tourists.

You can buy the tickets at the ticket office and it will cost you EUR3 for adults and EUR1.50 for children, students, and seniors.

You can get around the area by walking on foot easily as the places near the Kaunas Castle can be reached and is still in walking distance.
What Should I Wear?
There is no dress code requied to enter the Ninth Fort so you can wear anything you like and comfortable with. Don't forget to bring sunglasses and hat to block the sun.

Best time to visit is when the Kaunas Castle opens at 10am as people usually come to Kaunas Castle at noon or in the evening.

You probably won't need a guide as you can see the information and explanation inside the castle and the museum. You also won't get lost as the directions are written in bilingual languages.
How To Get There?
You can go to the Ninth Fort by car, taxi, or public transportation. If you are going by the public transportation, you can stop at the Devintas fortas bus station.
From April until October, the Ninth Fort opens at 10am and closes at 6pm everyday, except Monday. During Novmber until March, the Ninth Fort opens at 10am and closes at 4pm everyday except Monday and Tuesday.
