At the end of Nhyavn is located the Memorial Anchor which was erected to commemorate the sacrifice of over 1,700 sailors and Danish Officers of the merchant fleet, navy and Allied Forces during the World War II. Inaugurated in the year 1951, the Memorial anchor replaced the wooden cross which was erected temporarily on the spot. It was previously used on Frigate Fyn which was docked at Holman Naval Base at the time of World War II. An official ceremony is held every year at the place on May 5 to honour the departed souls.

All the four Copenhagen harbor Buses with routes 901, 902, 903 and 904 have a stop next to the Royal Playhouse at Nhyavn. You can also cycle to the harbor through Inner Harbor Bridge that connect Nyhavn to Christianshavn.
