The Odessa City Garden (Ukrainian: Міський сад) is located in town centre of Odessa, Ukraine, at the Deribasivska Street. Founded by Felix de Ribas (brother of José de Ribas) in 1803, it is the oldest park in the city. Felix de Ribas was an owner of most of this part of the town, but did not have enough resources to sustain the expenditure and so he donated the territory of the city garden to the city on November 10, 1806.
A Relaxing and Enjoyable Moments at Odessa City Garden
There are some historical monuments and statues inside the garden such as Monument to Iosif De Ribas (Jose de Ribas was a Spanish general who was responsible for building Odessa's harbour), Lionid Utesov (He was a very famous singer at his time and till today. So for people that remember him and his songs it's a cool thing to take picture with him. He is a part of Odessa), and Monument to the 12th Chair (he chair is devoted to a famous book by Russian/Soviet comedians Ilf and Petrov about Ostap Bender, a fraudulent guy who is trying to make money after hearing a rumor that a huge treasure is hidden in one of the 12 chairs of a set). There is also a water fountain called Fountain of Perfume. It might be the only perfume fountain in the world. Every hour it is released the aroma of French perfume, picked up by perfumer Christophe Lacarén. The fountain is also musical. In fact, these are two brothers: 13 jets of one fountain work during the day, and the second light-music one - from 21.00 to 23.30.
Symphonic Orchestra of The Odessa Conservatory plays there everyday. So you can enjoy a nice evening by dancing Waltz with your beloved one accompanied by the music from the orchestra or from the fountain in the rotunda.
