Pantheon is a historical monument at Latin Quarter in Paris. The building was solely built for the purpose of the church in the dedication of St. Genevieve. At present, the building is a tomb of the significant French citizens. It is built in the heart of the Latin Quarter. The monument was constructed after the vow of Louis XV. He promised to build a new grand basilica if he regains his health from a severe illness. During the time of disease, he always prayed to Saint Genevieve who was the patron saint at that time for his recovery. Finally, he recovered in 1744 and set up a new basilica in the dedication of her name. The whole area is a sacred site of Paris. The construction of the place was a challenge to the people due to financial difficulties. The Pantheon got severe damages owing to the several factors such as corroded parts of metal, aging stones, poor pressure distribution and many more in the past years. Despite everything it suffered, the monument stands strong in Paris. You will be amazed to know more about the building. The building is home to many stories in the past

Neoclassic Architecture

Neoclassic Architecture

The neoclassical architecture of the monument is commendable. It adds up to the beauty of the structure. The edges and the curves of the building are so finely carved that you won’t even believe that the building is made in the ancient era. The inside of the building is well organized. If you observe the interiors and the exteriors of the building, then you will notice that both the halves are identical. As you walk down the hallways, you will feel that you are living in the ancient era. Several similar renaissance structures inspired the large dome in the middle. It makes a smart way to lead the daylight into the building which was the main goal of the architect Jaques- Germain Soufflot.
