The Government Palace, also referred to as the Palace of Pizarro is considered to be the seat of the executive field of the government of the country. The building is housed in the Plaza Mayor and was inaugurated in the year 1535. Housing a number of ceremonial rooms, the building opens up into a courtyard garden. Some of the major attractions of the building include the Golden Hall, the Sevillan Room, the Jorge Basadre Room, the Peace Room, the Pizarro Room, the Presidential Residence, the Ambassadors Room, the Admiral Miguel Grau Room, and many more.

The Basilica Cathedral of Lima located in the Plaza Mayor, is oriented to Roman Catholic. Its construction started in the year 1535 and since then the cathedral has undergone a number of renovations, transformations and reconstructions. There are 3 large doorways manning the entrance of the church followed by 2 high towers built in neo-classical style with stylish influences. Numerous large paintings are housed in the interiors of the church along with the side aisles. Many figures of Jesus Christ, Mother Mary and Joseph are housed in the several chapels of the Cathedral. Ancient pictures which have been founded recently in the chapel during restoration have been reformed and put up for the viewing of the public.

The Archbishopís Palace of Lima which is the residence of the Archbishop of the city and also the headquarters of the administrative filed of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lima is located in the Plaza Mayor. The offices of the cardinal of the city are also housed in the building. The faÁade of the building has been made up of baroque elements with reintegrated rocks while the ceiling of the building is made of stained glass.. The balconies followed by the main doors are made of ornate cedar. There are two flag poles inside the palace named as the flag for the Vatican and the Peruvian Flag.
