With varied flora and fauna, it highlights a diverse species of wild animals ranging from Amur Tiger to Alaskan Brown Bear. It highlights over six hundred of wildlives in over one hundred and sixty species of animals. Spot leopards, rhinos and lions lurking among the rolling grassland of the park. The dry and hot surroundings may not be hospitable for all species, but it is the home for some mysterious and beautiful creatures. Santa Barbara exhibits a vast range of wild creatures from flamingos to camels and vides beast to tigers. It homes many ferocious animals including giraffe, bongos, African elephants, Anubis baboons, lesser Pandas, metro Pelicans, Ostriches, Buffalos, black Rhinoceroses, and lions. Opened in 2003 on a hillside, the 'Cates of Africa' exhibits black-footed cats and African lions at the top of the slope. Spot the birds across the world as they spar all around the Zoo. The 'Forest Edge' homes two male western lowland gorillas visible through a walled glass area. 'California Trails' is famous for California condors, bald eagles, desert tortoise, and Channel Island Fox. The vast area of the zoo also highlights innocent and beautiful aerial creatures which come from warm climates of Asia, Africa, Australia, and South America offering an extravaganza experience of smooth and showy feathers with explosive color and astonishing antics.

Meet the animals in our 'Behind the scenes tours.' Come and interact face to face with animals from all around the world! Get close and personal with the flock and amazing animals with spectacular sites. The Santa Barbara Zoo provides you an opportunity to explore the park in a private tour group lead by an experienced guide. Interact, touch, and observe the behavior of the wild creatures which you had never seen before. It allows only six people in the group. Welcomes the guests of all ages but specific encounter restricts the age above six years old. Reserve your tour at least a week before.

A keeper for a day

A keeper for a day

As an honorary Zookeeper, spend a day in Santa Barbara Zoo with your dear and favorite creatures. 'Keeper for a Day' is an interactive program for the one interested in conservation events and animals protection. Get a fantastic chance to participate and assist the zookeeper in their daily activities, from food preparation to feeding and enrichment, from animals training to enclosure cleaning! Hurry up. Everyone can apply for these activities which are above the age of eighteen years with proof of a negative tuberculosis test. Book your turn. A keeper for a day allows only on Thursdays between 10:00 am and 3:30 pm.



Santa Barbara Zoo offers tempting and appealing dining options along with wine and beer in its 'Ridley-Tree House Restaurant' and 'Wave Café'. Park also features food carts and vending machine throughout the vast area of Santa Barbara. Located on the California Trails area, remember to step into the gift store famous for attractive souvenir and momentous. Saturdays and Sundays host Fundays from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Explore Store.
