Shaheed Minar is a historical monument built to commemorate the martyrs of the historic Language Movement in 1952. Languange Movement was a political movement in Bangladesh which the mission is to make the Bengali language as an official language in Bangladesh rather than Urdu language and it should be use in the government. The monument was built in order to remember the four students of Dhaka Univeristy who were killed by the Pakistani police when they were fighting against them to fight for the Bengali language to be a national language. How To Get There?
Shaheed Minar is located in the southern part of Dhaka city. If you are planning to visit Shaheed Minar, you need to go to Shahbag first. There is a bus service from Dhaka to Shahbag. However, it is also recommended to go there by taxi or car. The tour to Shaheed from Dhaka will took around thirty minutes of driving via Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Avenue. If you are going to the monument from some nearby places, you can also ride a rickshaw. However, be careful with the prices that the driver offered to you. Also, prepare money for the parking fees.
