The Special Exhibition Zone of the aquarium has an intriguing Yangtze River Rare Aquatic Animals Exhibition. It serves as an excellent source of information about the Yangtze River and the threats that it has been facing. You will find numerous tanks in the exhibit containing various marine species. The main exhibition of the Zone is The Bionic Exhibition of Aquatic Animals Survival Skills dedicated to the venomous aquatic life. Here you would find long-spined sea urchins, freshwater stingrays, upside-down jellyfish, a huge mantis shrimp and the living Cone shells.
The China Zone exhibit is dedicated to the marine life found in China. It has five tanks and some fossils. The exhibit contains the endangered Chinese Fish, domestic ducks, giant salamanders, Chinese alligators and various species of Chinese Carp. You get a deep insight into the marine life of China that is showcased nowhere else.
The Australia Zone provides one of a kind experience to the visitors. Enjoy a ride in a glass escalator through the tank wherein you get to experience the sea animals quite close. You get to witness snakeneck turtles, pig-nosed turtles and various other species. There are four other tanks in the Australia zone containing barramundi, freshwater sawfish, brackish fish, etc.
Some of the interesting species found in the South America Zone are Whale Candiru, black ghost, green knifefish and four-eyed fish. The zone also features a walk through tunnel that provides phenomenal views of the native marine life of South America. There are also two tanks housing a South American lungfish and electric eels respectively.

The tickets to Shanghai Ocean Aquarium can be bought online as well as offline. The cost of ticket for an adult with height above 1.4 m is 160 RMB and that of a child is 110 RMB. You can also buy membership cards to enjoy unlimited entry to the aquarium for a year.

How To Get There?
Shanghai has an extensive transportation system which makes it easy to travel around in the city. You can take Metro Line 2 to Lujiazui Station from where the aquarium is at a walking distance. You can also reach the aquarium via bus. Numerous buses pass through Lujiazui Financial City and have a stop at Lujiazui Huanlu Fenghelu Station from where the aquarium is quite near. You can also take city sightseeing bus that runs on line 2 and has a stop at Dongfang Mingzhu Guangbo Dianshita station.
