Suomenlinna also called as Sveaborg in Swedish, is a sea fortress which has been inhabited. It has been built on six islands which include Kustaanmiekka, Susisaari, Iso-Mustasaari, Pikku-Mustasaari, Lansi-Mustasaari and Langoren. It is recognized as one of the sites of the World Heritage by UNESCO. It is also enjoyed by people as it is one of the most beautiful and photogenic picnic sites. 1. Kustaanmiekka Island

The island has been named after the crown prince of the district, Kusta. It is located in front of the Gulf of Finland. It is one of the islands that make up the Kustaanmiekka district. It is the southernmost island of all. The narrow part cape of Poland is connected to the adjacent Susisaari. It is an important part of the Suomenlinna fortress. The Kustaanmiekka strait is 81 meters long.

It is one of the islands on which the fortress of the Suomenlinna in Helsinki is situated. It is located in the south of Issa Mustasaari towards the west and towards the north of the Kustaanmiekan island. The island is connected to the fortress by a bridge. It is the most important island in the construction phase as there are many significant attractions of the fortress on this island. On the west of the island is a pond with landscaping trees and other plants. A park named as the Piper Park is also present on the island. The island also had warships earlier, however, now they are used for the storage of wooden boats which have gotten old.

Iso-Mustasaari is towards the right extreme of the fortress. It is the one which is the most densely populated island out of all the islands. It is home to the fortress' church and the only shop and school in the island. The island has numerous buildings which reach to the time when the Russians ruled. The island also has a number of residential buildings. There is a prison, an information center as well as a museum.

4. Pikku Mustasaari

Pikku-Mustasaari that translates to Little Black is another island that houses the fortress. It is also situated in front of the Gulf of Finland. This island now operates as a Marine School. It is situated in between Western Black and Isola Mustasaari. Both of them are connected via bridges. This island is the smallest among all the Mustasaars. The road that joins these islands runs along the shore of Pikku-Mustasaari.
