The Taipei 101 Observatory is one of the most famous attractions in Taiwan. It is a landmark skyscraper located at the Xinyi District. With its splendid height and the spectacular view that it renders to the visitors, it was anointed the world’s tallest buildings in the year 2004. The tower is famous for a number of reasons. One of it is its fastest elevator that can transport one from the 5th to the 89th floor in a mere 37 seconds, the fastest till date. The elevator runs at a speed of 1010 per minute. The tower is designed in the form of a bamboo and built with the latest technology. The tower is built with the technology to withstand typhoons and earthquakes. The observatory houses a number of other attractions in its 88th, 89 and 91st floor. Visitors from the top of the tower can see the entire city with a panoramic view. Visitors are offered binoculars and other observatory materials to witness the city from the top and enjoy the view. There are also museums inside the tower that showcases the workings and engineering applied for constructing the tower and other largest buildings in the world. The outdoor observatory housed in 91st floor renders a splendid view of the city. However, one needs to be careful of the strong winds flowing. Visitors are offered audio guided tours in eleven languages to study about the place and know about the different attractions housed in the surrounding of the tower.

How to Get Tickets?

Tickets to the observatory can be purchased from TAIPEI 101 Mall, on the 5th floor. The sale of ticket and entry will be closed at 9.15 pm. Hence all visitors must ensure they reach the location in time to avail tickets and entry. You can call up at 02 8101 8800 for further inquiries. The tickets can be booked online too through their official website. The charges of ticket start at NT $540 for children and students, NT $600 for adults, VIP Pass costs NT $1,200 and group ticket comprising of 20 to more people costs $540. No charges are applied for entry of children under 115 cm. Group tickets are not offered on weekends and public holidays. All reservations must be done 3 days in advance when booking online.

How To Get Around?

The observatory can be accessed by the fastest elevator in the world taking you to the top floor in 34 seconds. The indoor and outdoor observatory can be accessed by stairs. Visitors will have to wander the observatory on foot. However, wheelchair services are offered for people.

Best Time to Visit

The Taipei 101 Observatory remains open every day for a tourist visit. The place opens at morning 9 am and remains open until night 10 pm. The place may remain closed on public holidays or may vary in their timings. However, prior notice will be rendered to the visitors on the official site. The best time to visit the place is in the morning before 9.15 pm.



Will I Need a Guide?

Visitors need to follow a proper dress code. Poorly dressed visitors wearing slippers will not be allowed. You must wear comfortable and decent clothes with properly polished shoes. No pets or food are allowed on the premises. Every visit will have to go through a security check and are requested to comply with the staff.

How To Get There?

For reaching the Taiwan 101 Observatory by taking the Red Line or Xiangshan Train to Taipei 101 Station. The Taipei 101 Mall is a few minutes walking from the station. After reaching the Taipei Mall head to the 5th floor from where you can access the elevator to the museum.
