Tallac Historic Site is a historic that of 100-year-old. It was the summer retreat for three of San Francisco Bay Area's socially elite families. In their pride era, this site is a resort with two large hotels, a casino, and numerous annexes and outbuildings. Nowadays the resort and estates historic was restored and attract thousand visitors annually. This site located approximately three miles northwest of South lake Tahoe on the lake side of Highway 89. This site become a home to Valhalla community events center and its annual Valhalla Festival of Arts and Music. There also you can see exhibits on the Baldwin family-the former owner of the Tallac Hotel and historical of Washoe Indian at Tallac (Baldwin) Museum. This site is figured of the Baldwin Estate, the Pope Estate, and the Valhalla Estate. You can enjoy those sites each day during the summer season and you'll get free parking there. Engage you children and your dog to walk around this site, there are many path that making walking easy and enjoyable. If you want to see Valhalla Arts, Music, and Theater Festival you must come around late June into September. This festival offers various of event for children and adults.

Visiting Baldwin Museum

Balwin Museum is best place to start your tour in Tallac Historic Site. In this museum you will see a short introductory video that give you information about the history of life at Lake Tahoe, exhibit include 1920s kitchen, historical of infamous Lucky Baldwin and his family, and a room about the Washoe People. This museum is free, you can visit in May 26 through September 16 at 10.00 a.m. to 04.00 p.m. Things to do after you get around and find information is see the Gift Shop, the store sells merchandise of the period, and tickets to regular programs, tour and events.

In Pope House tour you will get a glimpse into the luxurious lifestyle of wealthy society people who summered in Lake Tahoe. You can see the architecture after the restoration in late-19th. This house is open from May 26 into September 16 at 11.00 am, 12.30 pm, and 02.00 pm. The tickets are $10 for adult, $5 child 6-12 years old, and free for 5 years old or under.

During the summer season Pope-Baldwin Estates is open for public daily. Visit this place during the season, you are free to stroll through garden, explore the museum, watch the Blacksmith in action and view Vintage Clothing Exhibition. There is some alternative transportation for you to visit Tallac Historical Site. If you are from Las Vegas you can use bus it will takes 9 hours 28 minutes, it will cheaper than drive, for driving you will need 8 hours 34 minutes. From San Francisco it will takes around 6 to 7 hours and if want drive to get there, it will takes 3 hours and 31 minutes. Or if you start from San Jose it takes 7 hours 55 minutes by train, 7 hours 55 minutes by bus, and 3 hours 55 minutes by drive, but the cheapest one is by drive.
