The Joseph Smith Memorial Building
The Joseph Smith Memorial Building was constructed in the year 1911 originally. It has been dedicated to Joseph Smith, who was the founder of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Lot of attractions are housed within the premises of the building. The admission to the building is free. In the Legacy Theatre located inside the building of the museum, a film named 'Meet the Mormons' is played which can be viewed by the visitors. Another attraction named 'Family Search' can also be indulged in there as it allows the visitors to know a little more about their ancestors and their lives. Two amazing restaurants named 'The Garden' and 'The Roof' are also present inside the premises of the building which make for an excellent dining opportunity.
The Family History Library
The Family History Library is one of the attractions housed in the square of the museum. The library is a genealogical research facility which offers a number of books, manuscripts and much more, which relate to the people in the form of making them knowledgeable about their ancestral family members, their existing and pre-existed culture, traditions, life, and other things. It is the largest library of its kind and is open to the public and charges not even a penny. Its collection includes 356,000 books, 4,500 periodicals, 356,000 serials, 727,000 microfiche, 3,725 electronic sources, and much more in about 30 languages and maintains records of about 110 countries from around the world, possessions and territories.
The Church History Museum
The Church History Museum is a premier museum located in the Temple Square complex. Formerly the temple was called the 'Museum of Church History and Art', so you may still find some people referring to it with this name. Established in the year 1984, the museum houses premier collections of tools, photographs, clothing, documents, art, furniture, artefacts, and much more. An 'International Art Competition' is also conducted at the museum in every three years, where museums and art houses from all around the world submit their artworks and the best ones are chosen and rewarded. A Museum Store is also located in the premises of the museum which sells works of some prominent artists along with some historical toys, bonnets, statuary, literature, pioneer-era clothing and other things.
