Torre del Oro means golden tower. The tower was built by the Muwahidun dynasty in the 13th century and initially served to control access to the city of Seville through the Guadalquivir River. After that the tower changed its function to a prison in the Middle Ages and a safe warehouse for storing gold. The building consists of 3 levels and there is a museum in it that tells the history of Seville's navy. This is one of the popular landmarks in this city so it is worth visiting.
