Valle Nevado means Snowy Valley in the Spanish language. It is a ski resort which is located on the El Plomo Foothills in the Andes Mountain. Valle Nevado is located at 46 km to the east of the capital of Chile, Santiago. The ski resort is founded in 1988 by French entrepreneur with around 800 hectares of skiing area. In 1987 the construction of the site is begun, and it was completed in the following years. The building of the resort is inspired by European resort, especially Les Arcs in French. The resort is opened for the first time in 2001, gaining a significant advantage on its competitors. Important building project has been realized from 2008-2010 in order to offer more housing to the tourists. The resort also opened the first mountain cable car in 2013.
