Veveri Castle is located 12 kilometers from northwest of the city center of Brno. Previously, it was a ducal and a royal castle near Svratka River. Veveri Castle is the oldest castle in the Czech Republic. It had been an old castle from 800 years ago. This old castle had a long history from it grew as a hunting lodge until it became the biggest fort in Czech Republic.

Representative room is located on the first floor of Veveri Castle. The room is dominated by the white color with the 14th century decoration. The tour is available in Czech, English and Germany. If you want to join the tour, you have to make a reservation at the information center. This tour will take you to getting around the castle's attic through the cellars of the castle. The tour guides that are available in speaking Czech, English and Germany will explain some of the terms that are used in history and architecture. The term will show you the basic economics of the castle from the last owner. By join this tour you are also visit the Gothic Room that is preserved in Veveri Castle. This tour only can be joined by person starts from 15 years old. If you are planning to have a group tour, you have to make reservation and maximum with 10 persons.

Sneakers are required if you are joining the Architecture and History Development tour. Sunglasses and sunscreen are important things to bring in summer. While in winter: long coat, sweater, jacket with boots can be the good option. Do not forget to bring gloves, hat and scarf to make your look fashionable in winter.
Best Time to Visit
From April to October, Veveri castle is opened on weekends and public holidays from 9 am to 5 pm. From May to September, the castle is opened daily at 9 am to 6 pm. Make sure you arrange your trip on those months since outside the opening times, you are not possible to visit the castle's grounds.

How To Get There?
Veveri Castle can be reached by bus, tram, car and trolleybus. It is only take a short trip by car from Brno. If you are using bus or trolleybus, you can go from La Corrida Restaurant by taking bus number 303 and trolleybus number 36. If you are in Kravola, you can take tram or bus number 303 and Tram-3. The fastest route to get into Veveri Castle is from Mozolky by taking a bus or tram which spent around 30 minutes. The nearest station of Veveri Castle is Hrad Veveří which can be reached by 5 minutes walking. Other stations such as U Matky Boží, Lávka Pod Hradem and Veveří, Přístaviště are more than 10 minutes to be reached.
