The organisation works to promote animal and plant conservation for which it has amassed a great collection of sea life that will completely amuse you. Some of the exhibits and programs are unique to Hawaii. The area inside the aquarium has four galleries containing reef sharks, nautiluses, lionfish and many other varieties of tropical fishes and corals. Do not miss out on Sea horse Exhibits that display some exotic seahorses. Sea horse nursery tanks are also there where you can see the baby seahorses. The Jellyfish exhibits containing Moon Jellyfish and Lagoon Jellies are quite amusing. You will also find the Green Sea Turtle exhibit and North western Hawaiian Islands exhibit showcasing the rarest fish of the ocean, the Peppermint Angel Fish.
Waikiki aquarium has outdoor exhibits too. The most popular exhibit of the aquarium is the Hawaiian Monk Seal Habitat which is home to two Hawaiian Monk Seal pups. There is also a Giant Clam exhibit that displays a variety of clams found in the South Pacific Ocean, Red Sea and Indian Ocean. All the clams found on the exhibit have been cultivated by aquaculture operations and not taken from nature. The third and the most fun exhibit is the Edge of the reef that features a 7500 gallon tide pool where you can interact with species like sea urchins, coral fish, sea cucumbers and star fish.
The aquarium also has a gift shop with a unique collection of items related to Hawaiian coasts. These include books, artwork and other interesting items. Buy them as a souvenir of your trip to Hawaii.
How to Get Tickets?
There is a small admission fee to the aquarium which you have to pay in order to visit the place. Children below the age of 3 are given free admission and those between 3 to 12 years and seniors of 65 years and above are charged $5. Adults (13-64 years) are charged $12. Waikiki aquarium tickets can be bought online as well as at the entrance of the aquarium. The facility of mobile audio guide is available with every Waikiki aquarium ticket.
How To Get Around?
The aquarium is not big but has some unique collection that you should not miss out on. Enjoy exploring the place at your own pace, learning about each exhibit. Audio guides and the aquarium staff is there to guide you through the place and provide necessary information.
Best Time to Visit
Waikiki aquarium opens daily from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm except on Christmas. On Thanksgiving Day, it opens from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm on New Year's Day. It is a fun place to visit with your family and gather interesting knowledge about the exquisite marine life. You can visit it any day to get a learning experience. Weekdays will be better for visiting the aquarium compared to weekends as there would be lesser crowd. Please note that the aquarium also has outdoor exhibits therefore you should not plan a tour to the place on a day forecasted with showers. If it rains, the outer exhibits would be closed for visitors.

How To Get There?
Waikiki aquarium located on the shoreline in Kapiolani Park is at a walking distance from Waikiki beach. You can walk across the street from the tennis courts of Kapiolani Park to reach the aquarium. Otherwise there are numerous bus routes that will take you to the aquarium. Waikiki Aquarium can also be reached via Green Line of Waikiki Trolley. Parking facility is also available near the aquarium hence you can take a private vehicle to the attraction. On busy days parking passes with two-hour limit are issued.
The aquarium precincts are smoke free. Tobacco and electronic cigarettes are prohibited at the aquarium site. Pets are also not allowed in the aquarium.
