Attractions and Things to Do At Xcaret Park

Attractions and Things to Do At Xcaret Park

There are so many things to do at Xcaret Park. Some of the nature-based attractions of the park include a river that goes through the Mayan village, a subterranean concrete sluice in which people can swim and snorkel with a life vest. Other things to do at Xcaret Park are recreational activities at the beach, snorkeling, Sea Trek and Snuba in the nearby reefs, or swimming with dolphins. For those looking for something more 'extreme,' there is the newest park attraction – swimming with nurse sharks. Although the sharks are not aggressive, having one sit in your lap and snap as you drop fish into its mouth will surely leave a long-lasting impression. If sharks are not your idea of fun, there are snorkeling areas full of tropical fish, the turtle area where you can see various species of turtles close up, or hang out with the sting rays. In addition, there are some cultural attractions here that you can see, such as an open church, replica of a Mayan village with real artisans at work, a Mexican cemetery, a museum, an equestrian show, Mesoamerican ball game, and an open theater with performances of pre-Hispanic dances.

Xcaret Park has different performances throughout the day in different areas of the park. The Charreria show is located outside of La Cocina Restaurant, and which has performances by Charros, Adelitas and a parade of Aztec Horses. The Duration of this show is 20 minutes and it is subject to park operations and seasonal requirements. The Papantla Flyers ritual ceremony is located outside of Xcaret Plus facilities. This show is 25 minutes long and it is shown four times a day. Pre-Hispanic performances take place in The Mayan Village and it is 25 minutes long. The Xcaret México Espectacular show is the biggest show in the park. With more than 300 actors on stage, the Mayan night show and dance performances are favorite for many. Dressed in colorful Maya costumes, the dancers play the drums, walk on fire, and perform mystical rituals, designed to appeal to the ancient gods. The show is the history of the Mayan culture put to music and dance by performers who will blow your mind. Note: The night show is an additional ticket cost to your day pass into Xcaret. Many visitors love to cruise around for a day and return another evening so they can take in the show.

Will I Need a Guide?

You will be given the map of the park when you buy the tickets, this can be your guide to get around the park. We recommend you to plan your day before visiting, there are too many things to do in one day at the park, so better plan what you really want to visit the day before. Once you know where you want to go, it's easy to find it with the help of the map.

How To Get There?

The vast majority of visitors to Xcaret go on a tour. This is the best way to get there, as the tour will include hotel pickup and drop-off. The night show ticket is always included for free. A private tour will get you a couple of extra hours at the park while a public tour can cost a little bit less, especially if you are only a couple of people. This is usually the most cost-effective way because the entry fee to Xcaret alone is $75 so if you can get picked up and dropped off at your hotel and not have to drive for only $14 extra - that's a good deal in our book. If you take the bus, there are departures from Cancun bus station (Uxmal Avenue) or from Playa del Carmen main bus station (5 th Avenue) to the park. You will also find other buses and public transportation that will drop you off at the special entrance on the side of the road.Just walk a few meters to the place from where the folkloric bus 'El Despeinado' will take you to the park entrance for free(every half an hour).
