The Charming Yu Garden
Situated at the entrance of Yu Garden, the Great Rockery is the first spot you encounter within the garden. It is the oldest and largest rockery of River Yangtze in its southern region. With the height of fifty meters, the rockery offers a panoramic view of the garden. Zhang Nanyang created this beautiful scenic in the Ming Dynasty highlighting winding caves, rugged cliffs, deep ravine, and catchy eye peaks. It features Cuixiu Hall at its foot. Surrounded by a curio shop, attractive foliage, and aromatic flowers, the hall provides a peaceful and elegant place for visitors to enjoy.
Sansui Hall is 'Three Tassels Hall' with a height of thirty feet and consists of five halls. It offers a place for bookmen to orchestrate ceremonies. It features a grand rockery which consists of two thousand tons of amber stones with beautiful sights of wood beam bustling millet, rice, wheat, plenty of harvests.
Constructed in the year 1709, the Inner Garden of Yu Garden features grand rockeries, elegant pavillions, clean ponds, and exotic flowers. The Hall of Serenity, Acting and Singing Stage, and the towers for watching waves enhances the beauty of the garden. The impressive scenery of foliage and fragrant flowers draws the attention of the visitors.
Located in the north-eastern part of the garden, Dianchun Hall is the most famous spot with historic buildings like the 'Hall of Harmony' and 'Kuailou Hall'. It exhibits the precious coins and bulletins which were made by Xiaodao Hui.
Located near Yuhua Hall, Jade Rock is one of the three hot rocks of Yangtze River. The interesting fact about this 10.8 meters high rock is that if you pour the water from the top ofr the foundation, it will flow out from each hole of the rock which creates a fantastic sight for viewers. You will be surprised to know that if you burn a joss stick below Jade Rock, the smoke will float out from the holes magically.

How To Get Around?
Shanghai has plenty of public transportation that you can avail. You can get around through metros, taxi, buses, and ferry. Take the subway on line 10 and stepped down at the Yuyuan Station. Leaving the station from Exit 1 will lead you towards the Yuyuan Garden. You can also grab the bus 11, 26, 64, 736, 805, 920, 926, and 930 for Xinbeimen Station and walk along Anren Street for five minutes to reach the destination spot. You can even travel through the Shangchuan Special Line and get off at the stoppage of the garden. City Sightseeing bus is the most comfortable mode to get around. Line 1, 3 and 5 of this bus leads you to this place. Moreover, it can also be explored on foot if you stay near the destination spot.

Grab the attire of your choice. However, make sure that whatever you're wearing is comfortable. You wear a nice sun-dress in the morning. Also, make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes and walking in heels can be a big problem.
Best Time to Visit
You can explore the Yuyuan Garden from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm on all days. Spring season provides a beautiful sight full of bright colors and flowers blooming in the garden. However, autumn months are best to visit. October and November offer pleasant weather with lesser crowd and moderate temperature. Avoid visiting the garden during weekends and vacation time.

You can get to Shanghai by plane, train, car or bus. Pudong International Airport is the main gateway to the city. Book the flight for the same. You can also fly domestically to Hongqiao Airport. Catch the train from Hongqiao Railway Station or Shanghai Railway Station, if you are traveling from nearby cities. You can also hire a self-drive car or private cab for a comfortable journey. Shanghai offers a ferry ride from Osaka and Kobe.
