Located on the Valley of Malaya Alma Atinka River, the Medeu is a playground of winter sports. It is about fifteen kilometers south-east of central Almaty at an altitude of seventeen hundred meters. Situated on the eastern side of the city, Almaty Zoo is the oldest zoo in Kazakhstan.
