Al Zawraa Park

Baghdad Zoo is a 200-acre zoo originally opened in 1971 and located in Baghdad, Iraq, in the Al Zawra'a Gardens area along with the Al Zawraa Dream Park and Zawraa Tower. Before the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the zoo housed 650 animals. After being nearly destroyed during the 2003 Iraqi war, when only about 35 animals survived, the zoo was reopened in 2003 and now houses about 1,070 animals. It once was the largest zoo in the Middle East.

Baghdad Museum is a local history museum located in and about the capital city of Baghdad, Iraq. It was established in 1970. The museum is situated near the Tigris River. It features 70 scenes from different periods using life-size models presenting Baghdad life, especially folk crafts, trades, professions, local customs, and street life. The museum has been closed and reopened many times during conflicts, but nothing was damaged.
Al Khadimiya Mosque
Al Khadimiya Mosque is a shrine located in the Kādhimayn suburb of Baghdad, Iraq. It contains the tombs of the seventh Twelver Shī'ī Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim and the ninth Twelver Shī'ī Imām Muhammad al-Jawad. Also buried within this mosque are the famous historical scholars, Shaykh Mufīd and Shaykh Naṣīr ad-Dīn aṭ-Ṭūsi. Directly adjacent to the mosque are two smaller shrines, belonging to the brothers Sayyid Raḍī and Sayyid Murṫadhā.

Baghdad has a few buses, a commuter train and share-taxis running. The buses are poorly maintained and they are often involved in accidents. Bus tickets should be purchased at kiosks. Renting a car or using a taxi is probably the safest way to get around Baghdad.

Although Iraq is a Muslim country, women wear long pants, shirts with only half sleeves, and dress as they like in Baghdad. It is not mandatory to wear hijab or headscarf in Baghdad. People are more stylish in this city. However, it is better to always cover your shoulders and knees when you're in the city. Bring sunscreen, it is very hot in Baghdad. Comfortable shoes is a must, you might need to walk or run a lot.

How To Get There?
If you come from Basra, you can buy a ticket and take the rail services. You can also get here by plane, Baghdad International Airport is about 16 km west from the center of Baghdad. There are also multiple daily buses arrive from most major Iraqi cities. Overland travel is possible from all neighboring countries, but is strongly discouraged due to violence.
