The Royal Palace Museum is also often called as the Royal Temple Museum because of its religious roots. This place is locally known as Haw Kham. This museum exhibits the rich culture and history of Laos through a number of exhibits. The building in which the museum is hosted itself has a rich historical background when it was the residence of a king. The architecture of the building itself has been done in classical and traditional Laos culture. The palace was turned into a museum in the year of 1995 after years of preservation and a few renovations. The museum also exhibits the sculpture of the king that used to reside here. The quarters of the royal family have been well preserved to give a glimpse into the lifestyle of the king.
Pak Ou caves are one of the most respected and holy sites in the world. The history of these caves can be traced back to thousands of years. These caves house over four thousand sculptures of Buddha. These caves are a shrine to Lord Buddha. The upper cave and the lower cave are known as Tham Theung and Tham Ting respectively. The sculptures in these caves are mostly made out of wood with a few exceptions. Often a lot of the sculptures can be found in hidden places and take a while to find.
