The city Lucerne is located on the shores of the Lake Lucerne. The meaning of the name is the Lake of the Four Forested Settlements. It is located in central Switzerland and is counted as one of the largest in the country. The shape of the lake is unique and also complicated. There are four arms to the lake with several sharp bends. The lake starts from the Reuss Valley and continues till the Gersauer Becken, which is the deepest point of the lake and ends at the Reuss in Lucenre. The European Rowing Championships has used the lake in its tournaments and events twice as one of its major venues and spots for sports. The first time it was a venue was in 1908 and the second time in the year 1926. Rotsee has also been using the lake as a rowing regatta since 1933.



Pilatus is a mountain massif and is also referred to as Mount Pilatus. It is located in central Switzerland. There are a number of peaks composing the mountain of which the one that is the highest is the Tomlishorn. 2 peaks right next to the stations are Esel and Oberhaupt. The legends believe that dragons resided over the mountain which had healing powers. The mountain is snowy and covered in white during most of the part of the year. The sunsets and the sunrises are astonishingly beautiful from the peak. A must visit place if you are in the city. It is one of the major attractions of the city and also the country.
